Day out to Blists Hill Museum

Only two club members managed the advertised day out to Blists Hill open air museum, but nevertheless, this was a real treat. It is a village showing life in Victorian times with people dressed accordingly everywhere you went. It was great to see an old chemist shop, pub, post office, bakery etc all with people behind the counter dressed in the costume of the day.

An added bonus, however, was that on the day we went, there was a mock Victorian wedding. It occupied most of the day with preparations, the procession to the chapel in the horse-drawn transport, the wedding and afterwards the reception and maypole dancing. Overall an excellent day out with more than enough to see and do and photograph.
