Our activity meeting in May on the evening of Wednesday 15th will be a visit to photograph the temple of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) at Chorley. Only the outside.
This is right next to Junction 8 of the M61. If coming from Horwich, go up the M61 to Junction 8 and turn left. About 400m up, you come to another roundabout. Go right round this so you are heading back to the motorway. The entrance to the temple is on your left. Go to the large car park. The group is aiming to meet around 6:30 to get the best variety of the evening light.
The temple is a fantastic and imposing building made of white marble. It is visible for a long way in several directions because of the height of its spire.
